Wow—it's been a busy, busy week! It sort of feels like I'm studying for finals.
You might think I'm crazy, but I actually love this feeling. 😉
You see, next week I'm flying to New York to attend Blog World Expo. My solo presentation, Affiliate Marketing the SMART Way: Stop Hoping and Start Earning, is on Tuesday at 2:30pm EST, and I've been staying up late rehearsing every single night, sometimes until 3 or 4 in the morning.
This is my second time speaking at the event. Last time, my “Be Everywhere” presentation was so well received (despite some disturbing technical issues), I know I have to bring even more to the table this time around.
It should be fun though, and I'm really excited to speak in front of a crowd again.
On top of that, I'll be moderating a panel in the podcasting track, which is all about why bloggers should be podcasting. I'm very lucky to have a esteemed panel of bloggers & podcasters behind me during that talk, including Derek Halpern from Social Triggers, Adam Baker from Man vs. Debt, and author Katie Davis from KatieDavis.com. That's happening on Wednesday at 11:30am EST.
And on top of that, I am in another panel on Thursday, moderated by author Scott Fox, which is about making money from your favorite niche market. I'll be talking a lot about GreenExamAcademy.com & SecurityGuardTrainingHQ.com, which I'm sure will prove to be a fun change!
If you're going to Blog World Expo, I'd love to meet you!
Like last year, if I'm not speaking or at another presentation learning stuff, you can find me wearing this backpack:
You can be sure I'll be recording my presentation so that if you can't make it, you'll still be able to get the content—probably in a podcast or possibly even a video.
Now—whether you're attending Blog World Expo or not, if you'll be around New York City on Wednesday, June 6th at 7:00pm, Derek Halpern and I are hosting a party!
Why?
Why not! It's New York City and it's the perfect opportunity to network and meet as many people as possible! If you're interested, click here for all the details.
In other news, Crooked Arrows, the movie I'm director of web and social media for, hits select theaters nationwide today!
So you can imagine just how busy we've been preparing for opening weekend!
With over 100 tweets every 10 minutes from people, and activity from over 125,000 Facebook Fans, it's tough to keep up and stay completely engaged! We're doing our best though and I'm having an awesome time hearing from people who are enjoying the film, and their reactions when they hear a tweet or message back from us.
In even more news, “I'm Fine, Thanks“, the documentary I'm in (and backed financially a little bit) has already reached $40,000 of it's $100,000 goal on kickstarter, in just one week! It's has the potential to be the most backed documentary in the history of kickstarter (# of backers), which would be awesome and speaks a lot to just how much the message resonates with people.
And finally, in home life, my wife and I are at the halfway point in our pregnancy with baby #2. We couldn't be any more excited!
We're getting things done around the house now so that when the time comes we can totally focus on the baby.
One thing I did this past week that I'm very proud of is I built a new grill for our back yard! I've fired it up almost every day since.
Soooo good!
🙂
Well—that's what I've been up to. Thank you all for the amazing support!
It's crunch time!
Wish me luck!

What are those green things next to the BBQ? Green doesn’t below on a BBQ. I hope it’s not asparagus?? haha
Pat says
Those are green onions. NOT asparagus. I don’t mind the taste of ’em..it’s just…there’s an interesting side effect I don’t really enjoy – LOL.
Dan @ How To Get On Reality TV says
Great update Pat. Good luck on your presentation – and I already heard about your epic NYC party, bummed I can’t make it.
Grill Tip: if you have difficulty timing how long to cook a burger, when you finish half a beer, it’s time to flip. When you finish the beer, it’s time to eat!
Pat says
Thanks Dan – and great tip! 😉
Sorry you can’t make it, but maybe next time!
Tony Frezza says
Hope that is grass-fed beef on that grill Patrick. Best of luck to you at Blog World. No planned screw ups for this year? That’s going to be an awesome event with some great speakers. Can’t wait to see some of the footage from it.
Pat says
Those are actually short ribs from Trader Joe’s, and a couple of portobello mushrooms and green onions 🙂
And are you suggesting I planned my epic slide failure last year? If only I were that clever, lol.
Hoping for an error free presentation this time around. We’ll see what happens. Thanks!
Tony Frezza says
Nice! Eating good in the hood. I’m not saying you planned the slide fumble/ epic save, but I will be keeping an eye on you this year. I know you’ll do great and I’m gettin kinda sad knowing I can’t go to it. Most important- have fun!
Robert says
Man Pat, you are one busy busy guy this week – which is awesome because there are so many great things happening! Kudos!
Pat says
Yeah man – it’s funny how there will be nothing going on for a while, and then BAM – everything happens at once 🙂
Good times though, good times!
tetsuo says
Awesome backpack 🙂
I’m sure it’s going to be looked for.
Pat says
Thanks! I love my backpack, hehe.
Nicolaj B. Müllertz says
Good luck on your presentation at Blog World Expo, know you will deliver a great performance.. 🙂
Btw love your grill… But you say you build it yourself.. How? 😀
Pat says
Thanks Nicolaj. And the grill – it came in a huge box all disassembled. It took about 3 hours to properly put it together 🙂
Christopher Knopick says
Wow do you actually sleep? Good luck with everything, maybe I’ll see you at the next Blogworld (I’m determined to make enough online to make it to the next one). I will be waiting to watch your recording.
Pat says
Hope to see you there Chris!
Brandon says
Your speech is gonna rock, I’m sure. And the grill looks awesome. Cook a nice looking burger on it for me! Too bad you can’t take it to the NYC party! 😉
Chris says
When are you coming to Europe Pat?
Ling-en says
Come to Paris !!!
Is the baby to come a girl or a boy ?
PLEASE record the video of the presentation! Thanks Pat
Felix says
Wow packed schedule. Wish I could attend blog world. Maybe one year. Congrats on the movie launch. Has to be really awesome. Did you make it into the movie then? 😉
On the topic of asparagus. Take a big piece of foil fold it up around the asparagus, kinda make a big foil Baggie for them. Wash, cut off the thick ends, cut a few little chunks of butter, or sprinkle olive oil on them. Sprinkle some fresh chopped garlic on as well. Bundle up so nothing leaks out and toss on grill. Flip the goodies wrapped in foil once and take them off a bit before meat is done.
Delicious.
Anyhow enjoy NY!
Craig McBreen says
Hi Pat,
That’s a handsome grill. (Nice color :)) I have an old Weber and this thing puts mine to shame.
I’m one of those long time lurkers, but finally wanted to drop in. And your podcast with Mike Doonan inspred me a bit today. Great stuff! I now have yet another plan thanks to you 😉 Too little time.
I’m looking forward to BlogWorld. Flying in Tuesday, so I’ll miss your talk, but do hope to catch the panel discussions and hope to speak with you at the Wednesday night event. Anyway, best of luck with the talk.
Sam Brunson says
Best of luck on your presentations Pat!
Adam says
Pat,
Those short ribs that you have on the BBQ look great.
I can’t wait for your presentation. I hope you can get it on video.
Also, hopefully you don’t have another mistake like last time, however, it was quite comical.

Safe travels and a successful trip!
You’ve done the preparation now go enjoy the benefits.
Apropo of last years topic (be everywhere), you have definitely walked the walk. Perhaps that’s one small reason for your massive success.
Looking forward to hearing about this year’s message.

Pay, I wish I was going to Blog World but I was booked to already go to convention in Vegas next week. Bummer.
Tell Derek that David Frey said, “whad up!”
Have a great time and I look forward to hearing your lessons learned from the expo.
David Frey - MarketingBlogger.com says
Sorry Pat, I spelled your name wrong. My fingers don’t do what I tell them to do sometimes. 🙂
John Corcoran says
Wow, Pat — good luck in New York. Sorry I will be missing it. I’m an old former speechwriter, so I can’t help giving some advice — although I’m sure you don’t need it.
1.) Print out your speech in 18 point font (much easier to read that way) and have it nearby, even if you’ve memorized your speech. It will give you some reassurance just having it.
2.) Try to go to the room where your speech will be ahead of time (maybe a day earlier) when no one is around so you can step up to the podium and see what the room is like. You are probably already planning on doing this, but see if you can load your powerpoint and see it through the projector ahead of time as well, so there aren’t the technical glitches again.
3.) Bring your powerpoint presentation on your laptop and on a USB drive and email it to yourself, so you have it in different places, in case your laptop doesn’t fire up or you misplace the USB drive.
4.) Have fun! If nerves are a problem, take a few shots of Vodka right before you go on and make sure they REALLY remember your speech… ; ) (“that Pat Flynn, he was the drunk Nick Nolte guy, right?”
Kent @ Amazon Affiliate Tips says
Pat, I am sure that you gonna rock in your presentation. You have rocking Affiliate income and we all love learning more from you.
Looking forward to your recording. Chill out and enjoy the conference and meeting great bloggers!
Guzyal Hill says
It is all happenning!
Good luck, Pat!
It makes my head spin even reading about it all. Good job!
Andy Riegler Andrews says
What a week! How do you get anything done? Sometime you should speak for us in Europe. Just make sure to bring the grill with you ;).
Salman Ahsan says
Go Nail em Pat 🙂
Paul says
Hey Pat.
I know this is off-topic, but I had a question and thought it better to ask here than to send you an email.
For your security guard training niche, how is your list building going? I have a niche similar to you (a career training niche) and never thought of putting a list simply because there’s nothing to really promote to them. But people seem to advocate building a list no matter what.
What are your thoughts and are you having any success with your list in your niche site?
Thank you a lot and best of luck on your presentation!
The Secret Insider says
Wow busy busy busy Pat, how you get it all done I don’t know, do you sleep?
I agree with Andy Reigler Andrews, are you going to be speaking to us folks in Europe anytime? 🙂
Regards
SI
Sandy says
Hey Pat,
Good luck for your presentation.. looking forward to the podcast / video at SPI
joe says
I was just curious why you put so much time into a presentation for blogworld? Is there a significant roi, or is there even a way for you to measure the roi?
Pat says
Hey Joe – great question actually, and a few people here have asked me the same thing.
I put so much time into my presentations because I care about giving an excellent, well-crafted presentation. Just like a blog post, a video or a podcast – the better the quality the more people will be engaged with me, and the more engaged they are – the better the content will be and the more likely they are to take action.
Plus, there’s a lot of good that comes from those who put on an excellent presentation that could, in the long run, help me and my brand and help me reach my long term goals. (i.e. getting published).
Tansey Louis says
what do you mean you “built” a BBQ? do you mean you assembled a store bought one? Or did you build that baby from scratch?
Shadi Halloun says
Post an affiliate link for that backpack, I’m sure you’ll make good money:)
[email protected] says
I agree with this 🙂
The backpack will sell. If you can still manage to sell Magic article submitter after the recent algorithm changes then you have no trouble selling a packback 😉
